Political and Legislative Affairs

 

Local 791 has a full time political and legislative director who is responsible for a variety of political and legislative functions. Local 791’s Political & Legislative Department is actively engaged in working with elected officials at all levels of government to ensure the right decisions are made on issues that affect the quality of life of our members. Elected officials make decisions on issues that affect our jobs, wages, working conditions, and our benefits. 

 

 

The Local 791 Political and Legislative Affairs Department performs the following functions:

  • Develop, coordinate and implement legislative programs at the Local, State & National level.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with with elected officials at all levels of government
  • Maintain a communication network within the Local to inform members on important on legislative and political campaigns.
  • Conduct voter registration drives
  • To further our goals in the political and legislative arena, Local 791 has developed and maintains strong working relationships with various elected officials and the UFCW International Political/Legislative Action Department.
  • Campaign Coordinator -  Federal, State and Local Political Elections
  • Coordinate -  Local 791 Active Ballot Club
  • Manage MA & RI State Political Action Committees

 

To further our goals in the political and legislative arena, Local 791 has developed and maintains strong working relationships with the UFCW International Political/Legislative Action Department, various labor organizations and community groups.
