It is my pleasure to welcome you to the website of UFCW Local 791, one of the most hard-working and successful unions in the nation. Our mission is to provide a better quality of life for our members. We achieve this through collective bargaining and through obtaining some of the finest contracts in the industry.

We are very fortunate to have a very supportive and educated membership who identify with the hard work ethic provided for them by the staff and Executive Board members and union representatives of Local 791. Every man and woman who draws a paycheck as a union representative exemplifies what a union is all about.

We at Local 791 feel it is imperative to organize the unorganized. We also feel it is important that people have the opportunity to enjoy the level of wages and benefits a collective bargaining agreement can bring to them.

Finally, our mission and belief statement is that the membership should and will always be at the top of this union’s agenda.

Sincerely and fraternally,

Russell Regan, President

Update Concerning Sunday and Holiday Hours

Local 791 has filed a 4th class action grievance on Sunday and Holiday hours. This grievance concerns full time employees being denied Sunday and Holiday hours in their own department and part time employees being given Sunday and Holiday hours in departments other than their own.

The Company has contacted the Union and asked to meet to discuss all four Sunday and Holiday class action grievances before the Union submits them to arbitration.  Local 791 is waiting for a date from the Company for this meeting.

If you feel you have been disadvantaged as a result of the company’s actions concerning Sundays and Holidays, please contact your Steward, Alternate Steward, or call the Union Office to discuss your issues.

Re:  Voluntary Layoff

On January 24, 2012, the Company communicated to the Union that as of February 23, 2012, the Voluntary Layoff Provision of the Memorandum of Agreement between the Union and the Company dated September 17, 2010, will no longer be in effect while the Company evaluates its success and usefulness.

Local 791 has requested to meet with the Company concerning this matter and is awaiting a meeting date.

If you have any questions concerning this issue please contact your Steward, Alternate Steward, Business Agent or call the Union Office.
